Quality at Every Step

At our factory your project begins when we receive your professional kitchen designer's order and technical drawings. In turn, through back and forth e-mails, faxes and phone conversations with the designer, Wm Ohs customer service and engineering personnel thoroughly dissect your kitchen designer's order into its multiple elements, finally developing actual cutting, finishing and assembly directives for the factory.

If you visit Wm Ohs you'd find yourself in a small, modern, bustling factory. You'd watch skilled journeymen and production woodworkers operate an array of intriguing machines. But you'd also marvel at the amount of meticulous handwork, especially during the detailing, aging and finishing processes.

Think for a moment about quality. What does it mean to own quality furniture or cabinetry? How was that quality achieved in the first place?

At Wm Ohs the course of quality begins with the choice of suppliers of the various wood species. We then segregate the wood into clusters of uniform color and compatible grain pattern so each lot will stain with consistency. During the process of manufacture, the moisture content of the wood is also monitored and controlled.

Quality is manifest too, in the precision sizing of milled cabinet parts, which fit into various assemblies like the special "Bombé-Fronted Furniture" pieces. The charm of these pieces may mask this precision, but accuracy is always there.

Quality is also inherent in hidden details: For example, in addition to the common "mortise and tenon" joinery of the cabinet doors, Wm Ohs adds dowels. Center panels "float" within the mortised cabinet door frames and are allowed to expand and contract, as wood will do, with changes in humidity.

In the climate-controlled finishing rooms, we employ methodical routines in the application of stains, glazes, and varnishes so that the finish is consistent in color and appearance. You can run your hand across any part of a Wm Ohs cabinet or table and feel the smooth weightiness of the product.

In summary, the factory mission at Wm Ohs is to provide cabinetry of incomparable quality, from engineered design through excellence in manufacturing to the arrival of the project at the customer's home in complete and flawless condition.
